Whew, this morning was a new adventure for us here at Lamuella. Nausicaa got her dew claw caught in some chicken wire and it ripped out! Luckily, we were able to get her inside to clean the wound, manage her pain, and get her bandaged up. So if you come by and see the bandage on her foot, give her some extra love for being such a trooper!
Minor cuts, scrapes, and even bites can happen often when living with companion animals, and the most important thing to do in these situations is to stay calm. If you freak out, they will too. We always recommend having a first aid kit available with vet approved wound cleaner, gauze, isopropyl or peroxide, and first aid tape. When giving wound care to individuals, also have snacks at the ready to keep the kiddo in good spirits and still while you work.
We have exciting news to share with our monthly donors and volunteers! Phoenix Animal Save has been working diligently with local vegan restaurants in the valley to create an amazing partnership that benefits you, the sanctuary residents, and small businesses!
If you are a monthly donor via time, funds, or supplies, we are able to provide you with a membership card that gets you 10% off at participating vegan restaurants! Our existing donors have already been added to the program, and your cards are ready! You can pick them up on your next visit, or reach out to me to arrange for mailing of your cards.
For those who are interested in the program, or interested in becoming a monthly supporter, feel free to reach out to us, or Phoenix Animal Save for more information!
For our existing volunteers, we will be updating the chore sheet that can be found on the front of the Sanctuary fridge, that way if you find yourself wanting to help around the space, there will be a list of ideas for you to choose from!
Also, Birthday noises are in order! Torvill and Priscilla are 1 year old now! Make sure to give them some love for existing and being perfect! Here’s a glimpse of that they looked like about a year ago
